Marc Quinn, 50, was born in London. The son of a scientist, he studied art history at Cambridge University. He came to prominence in 1991 with Self, a cast of his head made from his frozen blood. His work We Share Our Chemistry With The Stars JG 200R, 2010, is part of the Interact: Deconstructing Spectatorship exhibition at the Courtauld Institute of Art's East Wing Biennial. He has two sons (eight and 11) and a stepdaughter (23), and is married to the children's author Georgia Byng. They live in London.
