Paul Giamatti, 46, was born in Connecticut. After Yale, he went into experimental theatre and played Broadway. In 1997 he was cast in the film Private Parts; roles in My Best Friend's Wedding, The Truman Show and Man On The Moon followed. In 2004, he made the acclaimed film Sideways and, in 2006, he was Oscar-nominated for his role in Cinderella Man. He has just completed The Amazing Spider-Man 2. On Christmas Day he appears in Downton Abbey on ITV. He is married with a son and lives in Brooklyn.
