Simon Bird, 29, was raised in Guildford, Surrey. He read English at Cambridge, where he was president of the Footlights and met Joe Thomas. After performing at Edinburgh, the pair were cast in The Inbetweeners. He won the British comedy award for best newcomer in 2008 and for best TV actor in 2009. The Inbetweeners Movie was released in 2011 and the sequel is out next month. He was also in The Harry Hill Movie, The Look Of Love with Steve Coogan, and Friday Night Dinner, the second series of which is out on DVD. In 2012, he married Lisa Owens, his girlfriend since university. They live in London.
