I have a penchant for happiness. I have experienced euphoria before a migraine, which may not count, but I have also felt immense happiness leaning back in a chair in sunlight, puttering in my garden, reading, dancing, immediately after giving birth and when writing.
When I was a kid with no responsibilities.
This year's a pretty good year.
At the SAG awards in 2016. I remember going into that night saying to myself, “I might not be here again; let me be fully in the moment.” The cast of Orange Is the New Black won the acting-ensemble award for the second year in a row, and I was there with a man I truly loved. That night was everything I had always dreamed about.
A couple of ex-boyfriends.
Never getting the lead in the musical at school.
My little sister Grace. In all the ways in which I am not capable or grounded or calm, she is.
