Susan Butcher was an American dog musher who won the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race four times between 1986 and 1990, including three consecutive victories. She lived and trained in the Alaskan interior and was widely credited with transforming the training and care of racing sled dogs.

I feel that because I challenge myself so often, sometimes I will fail. This is, to me, the essence of competition — that there will be both winners and losers. But I have great faith in myself that I will turn this loss into something positive.
