I cry all the time. Films can tip me over. Especially Pixar ones. I alarmed my kids when we went to see Coco – I was a mess. I cried at the Elton John gig at Glastonbury.

Walking along Oxford Street on Saturday pulling a shopping trolley that my mother bought me. I remember saying, “I’m never going to use that!” and there I was, very grateful to have it in my life. She died before Christmas and I can’t ring her to tell her that she was right.
Our beautiful cat was so ill that we were hours away from having her put down. Somehow, we’ve managed to nurse her back to full health again.

My daughter, Lael. She’s fearless and fun. In her eight years, she’s had traumatic events, but still gives hugs.
But it was really – it came across sinister. And for me, I really did listen to it. I accepted it. I tried to implement that. The reason why I say it’s the worst advice I ever received was that it was damaging to me because she was totally wrong. ... And so, when somebody who is successful tells you to do something, you try to do it, even when it damages you.
My job. I want to get it right.
