Barbara Taylor Bradford, 80, was born in Yorkshire. She sold her first story to a children's magazine when she was 10, and went on to become a journalist at the Yorkshire Evening Post. At 20, she moved to London to join Woman's Own. Her first book, A Woman Of Substance, was published in 1979. Her novels have since sold more than 88m copies worldwide and been translated into 40 languages. Her new book is Cavendon Hall and she has also written Hidden, a Quick Read for the National Literacy Trust.
