About
Kirsty Young, 41, was born in Glasgow. Her journalistic career began in 1989, when she became a newsreader for BBC Radio Scotland. In 1992, she moved into television to present Scotland Today news programmes. She was the launch host of Five News in 1997 and went on to become an ITV news anchor. Since 2006 she has presented Desert Island Discs for Radio 4. Her television series, The British Family, continues on BBC2 and BBC HD.
