Richard Hammond, 39, was born in Solihull. He studied photography and television production, then spent nearly a decade working in local radio before moving to London and breaking into TV. In 2002 he landed his dream job as a Top Gear presenter. His new BBC1 gameshow is called Total Wipeout.
