Sebastian Coe, 55, was raised in Sheffield, joined his local athletics club at 12 and became English Schools Champion in 1972. In 1979, he broke three world records (800m, mile, 1500m), then won gold and silver at the 1980 and 1984 Olympics. In 1992 he became a Conservative MP and in 2006 he was knighted. He is now chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. He is married for the second time and has four children.
