Born in Detroit, Suzi Quatro, 66, played in her father’s jazz band, and at 14 formed her own, all-girl group. She moved to the UK in 1971, and has since had 18 hit singles, including Can The Can and Devil Gate Drive, selling more than 55m records. Last month, she was made an honorary doctor of music by Anglia Ruskin University. She is married for the second time, has two children and lives in Essex.
