Bryan Ferry, 65, grew up in County Durham, the son of a miner. After an art degree at Newcastle University, he moved to London, and in the early 70s founded Roxy Music. They have since had a string of successful albums, as well as a UK number one single in 1981 with a cover of Jealous Guy. Ferry has always maintained a solo career, and in 2001 was nominated for a Grammy for the album As Time Goes By. His new album, Olympia, is released on Monday.
