We who live by writing and publishing want and should demand our fair share of the proceeds; but the name of our beautiful reward isn’t profit. Its name is freedom.

No, I’m not like that. I have to be ready. It has to gestate it for quite a while and then it’s ready to burst forth.

I tend to shape my life through aesthetic principles rather than economic ones – I’ve never been very good at maths.
